CLMA Siouxland Chapter - Board Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Kari Nornes at 1:10 p.m. in Sioux Falls.
Members present included Kari Nornes, Wanda Dally, Karen Jepperson, Jill Hanley, Larry Weaver, Rick Pudwill (new president elect), Twila Henning via teleconference.
Welcome to new President-elect, Rick Pudwill.
Minutes were approved from last meeting
Larry presented the treasurer's report. Our current checkbook balance is $3955.74; our total assets as of December 2002 were $10,248.59; the report was approved.
Web Site
For Siouxland Chapter Website Vendor sponsorships, we will send a renewal letter one month prior to the due date for renewal. We will use the current invoice and add a signature line for them to sign as a contract when it is returned for renewal. They will send their renewal money to Karen Jepperson and she will forward it to Larry Weaver. The current website vendor information is attached.
We need to update the members section of the website with current officer information. Rick needs to send a photo and information; Jill needs to submit a photo; change the titles on the officers. Karen will send the information to Mark Toboll to update when she receives it.
Member Survey
Karen will send the Member Survey to CLMA members only via email. Twila will get the email addresses and send it out. The survey will be returned to Karen to collate results.
Continuing Education Events
Kari reminded us that CLMA members also have discounted registrations at the SDSCLS/CLMA Spring Meeting in Yankton in May (not published that way in the brochure). Twila and Wanda volunteered to work with registration if necessary. We will have an exhibit table with membership applications. We will also donate a door prize. Karen will purchase the door prize.
The SDAHO meeting is September 23-26, 2003. Rick Pudwill is helping to plan the meeting. The theme is "Everyday Healthcare Heroes". Kari suggested having a video tape (Abbott) about real life scenarios of the impact of laboratory testing in healthcare. We also talked about having Jeff Booth or Katharine Ayres come to talk about the PAC (Political Action Committee) for the laboratory portion of the meeting. We might consider using them as a CLMA sponsored seminar in the fall, if we don't have them for SDAHO.
Mailing List
Kari has a copy of the combined SDSCLS/CLMA mailing list and also the new CLMA members list.
National Chapter Member Award
We would like to nominate Twila Henning for the award. She will send her curriculum vitae so we will have her information. Karen and Kari will put the application together.
Time Line for 2003
Kari handed out a suggested timeline for the next year, including six Board Meetings, two member meetings, three continuing education activities (one audio conference) and three newsletters. Each meeting has a focus topic for discussion.
Silent Auction
Kari will check if we can still submit an item for the silent auction at the National Meeting in Salt Lake City in June. She will let Karen know and Karen will send the item if we can still submit it.
CLMA Management Award
We discussed sending applications for this award also to the administrators of facilities of the CLMA members so that there is more involvement and awareness of the award. Since many members use their home address as the mailing address, this may be difficult to implement. Kari will work on this.
Siouxland Chapter Newsletter
We will try to get one out next week.
Accomplishments/Objectives
We discussed the past year accomplishments and what we want to set as goals. We will further discuss this topic at the next meeting in May.
Next meeting
Our next meeting will be held May 7, 2003 in Yankton after the 5:00 p.m members meeting. (approximately 6:00 p.m.).
