Chapter By-laws
The Board reviewed the By-laws and will submit the proposed changes to the membership at the May meeting in Huron.

New CLMA Image—“A Resource for Laboratory Professionals”
National CLMA is promoting a new image that is more inclusive to all laboratory personnel. We will be updating our chapter logo (also website, stationery, display materials) and will have cards available in Huron for members to see the new positioning statement. National CLMA will work with our chapter to help make the transition.
Membership Continuing Education for 2004
- The ASCLS/CLMA Spring Meeting is May 5-7 in Huron, SD at the Crossroads Convention Center. Kari will ask for volunteers to help with the booth at the exhibit.
- SDAHO Fall Meeting is September 22-24, 2004 at the Sheraton Convention Center in Sioux Falls. Rick Pudwill, coordinator of our Education committee, will work with the Education committee to plan this event for our CLMA members.
- A December educational meeting was discussed and it was decided to have this meeting as our membership drive. We will discuss at the May meeting.
- Kari will follow-up with the ASCLS/CLMA contract after the May meeting.
Education Committee
The Education Committee consists of Bev Ulmer, Erica Boltjes, Mel Heinz, and Rick Pudwill, chairman. They will meet to plan the education programs for the year.
Member Recognition
Karen will prepare certificates for members recognizing years they have been members of CLMA. We will present them to members at the May meeting. Also, we will have certificates for past members of the Board to recognize their contributions.
The Board will also send letters to both new chapter members and to renewing chapter members as a welcome.
New Advocacy Materials
There is new advocacy material available to members if desired. See Kari Nornes for details. We discussed contacting our congressmen so that they are aware of our organization and will think of using us as their resource in laboratory-related issues. We will consider having another conference call for our members with a congressman.
CLMA PAC
National CLMA PAC will contribute a portion of the funds raised to Senator Tom Daschle, SD.
CLMA Chapter Membership Award
Kari will send a letter to CEOs/Administrators of hospitals/laboratories explaining the Chapter Management award and encouraging nominations from their facilities. We need to receive the nominations by July 30, 2004, for presentation at the SDAHO meeting in the fall.
