The Siouxland Chapter of CLMA was called to order by president, Rick Pudwill, at 3:15 PM at the Sheraton Hotel and Convention Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. Board Members present included Mike Dott, Connie Thury, John Kangas, Kari Nornes, Kathy Winter, and DeeAnn Lovett.

Minutes were approved from the last Board Meeting. Mike Dott made the motion for approval and Kathy Winter seconded the motion.

John Kangas presented the Treasurer’s report. Our current balance is $3,272.92. John reported that there is a $2.00 charge per month when the debit card is not used; therefore, the debit card could be used for supplies, etc. during the months when there are no travel or convention expenses.

The vendor contracts should be reviewed. DeeAnn will check with Karen Jeppersen regarding the current contracts status. Rick will talk to the LCM Pathologists regarding being a sponsor. Other possible sponsors that were mentioned were Cardinal, Fisher, Dade, and Kreisers.

Our current membership is 45 members. New member and renewal letters continue to be sent as members join and memberships are renewed. Rick reported that there are three members that are letting their membership lapse, and one renewed after the “Lapsed Member Letter” was e-mailed.

Rick would like to send out a “Thank You” Note to the Techs that helped draw PSA’s at the South Dakota State Fair. He will try to get the names from Melanie Hunhoff at Senator Tim Johnson’s Office.

The SmartLab Workshop is still available. There was discussion on when to utilize this workshop. Ideally, it would work for a meeting like SDAHO, if it is still available next September.

The spring 2007 SDASCLS/CLMA will be held in Aberdeen, S.D.

The new table cloth with the Siouxland Chapter logo was used at the Vendors Show yesterday. It looked very nice, and the display from National CLMA was very much appreciated for the booth.

An idea for future educational events was to possibly include a social function in conjunction with the seminar/workshop. Golf, bowling, cookout, and a summer-get-together were mentioned. This could also be an event to introduce potential new members to CLMA.

Kathy mentioned that Southwest Minnesota has a lot of potential for new members.

Rick will send out the raffle tickets again with the Nomination e-mail

The ASCLS/CLMA joint event will be held October 4-6 at the Ramkota in Sioux Falls. There will be a CLMA Siouxland Chapter Member Meeting on Thursday, October 5th.

The final Siouxland Chapter Board Meeting will be held December 6th at the Avera Health Building at 3900 West Avera Drive. John will check on lunch arrangements.

Katherine Ayres had a template which Rick blended with our advocacy guidelines. These were read by the Board Members. Kari made a motion to adopt these guidelines into the CLMA Siouxland Chapter By Laws. John Seconded.

Some of the Officers from the SDASCLS would like to meet with the CLMA Siouxland Board Members regarding Competitive Bidding. Rick will notify Terry Erickson, our Chapter Advocate, and see where she is at in her research. A meeting could possibly be held at Noon on October 5th at the October Convention.

Connie Thury made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mike Dott seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 4:00 PM.
