Audit
The audit on the records was back to 1999. It was recommended that we have a better log of checks, so Larry has it set up on a spread sheet.
Web Site
Please be sure to use the CLMA-Siouxland Web-site at www.clma-siouxland.org for updates and for any information you would like to see on it. We need to have more information for the calendar. If you have anything you would like to post on the calendar (e.g., meetings, seminars, audio or video seminars), please send it to Karen Jepperson.
We also need to encourage vendors that we use to support the organization with a sponsorship of the Web-site. We will post a general letter on the Web-site for you to use as a template…you can fill in your own vendor and customize it with your name and address. The information regarding the sponsorship is all in the letter.
Newsletter
Kay Knoblock and Twila Henning will have the quarterly newsletter available on the Web-site also.
HIPAA Meeting CD
The HIPAA Meeting CD and handbook (from January 2001) is now available. You can check it out through Karen Jepperson.
Report on Spring SDSCLS/CLMA Meeting
CLMA Siouxland received a check for $278.70 from the Spring Meeting in Aberdeen (joint with SDSCLS). There were 16 paying exhibitors; total registration amount of $8325.00; CLMA share of profit (10%) was $637.16 and expenses for Cheryl Kraft $358.46.
Board Meeting
Minutes from the last meeting were distributed for review.
Spring Meeting
Kari Nornes, CLMA President-Elect, will work with SDSCLS on this meeting. It will be held on a single day, May 23, 2002 in Pierre with no exhibitors. CLMA will negotiate for a higher percentage from the proceeds, perhaps based on the actual percent of members present at the meeting.
National CLMA
Twila reported that our chapter is under National CLMA for insurance so we do not need any additional coverage.
Next year, CLMA will be with ASCP for the National Meeting in New Orleans.
The Chapter By-laws were distributed and need to be approved and sent back to National CLMA. Please see the attached by-laws. If you have any comments, please send them to Twila.
CAC report
Nothing to report per Twila Henning.
Logo Contest
There were five different logos submitted. We selected a logo with CLMA logo and a windmill to represent the Siouxland Chapter. It will be used for letterhead and envelopes.
New Officers
New officers include Kari Nornes, President Elect, Karen Jepperson, Secretary, and Jill Hanley, Board Member.
Siouxland CLMA Membership Award
Recipient of the award this year is Kathy Winter. Congratulations to Kathy and thank you to her staff for the letter they submitted to recommend her as the recipient.
Next meeting
Our next meeting will be held May 23, 2002 at noon at the Spring Meeting in Pierre at the Ramkota Inn.
The meeting was adjourned at 6:50 p.m..
Karen Jepperson, Secretary
CHAPTER CHALLENGE
On September 25, 2001 CLMA will kick off the "Chapter Challenge." From this date until October 26, 2001, every new member that joins a chapter will be recorded in the Executive Office. The three chapters with the most new members as of October 26, 2001 will win:
- First prize: $500 cash and a registration to the 2002 annual conference in New Orleans
- Second prize: two free CLMA memberships
- Third prize: one free CLMA membership
A number of chapters are having their fall meetings shortly - an excellent time to attract new members to your chapter. Other suggestions include hosting a social event and calling various prospective members to invite them to join your chapter. Use your own innovative recruitment ideas and let the Executive Office know what methods were successful for your chapter.
Have a great time and good luck!
Presidents note: Based on e-mail from Mark Newton, national CLMA, the contest will now be based on percentage. tlh
