CLMA Siouxland Chapter Meeting

The meeting was called to order by Twila Henning at 12:30 p.m. in Sioux Falls, SD. Minutes from the September meeting were approved.

TREASURER

We have received some income from SDAHO; expenses include Tri State and SDAHO. We will post the complete treasurer report on the Web-site with a monthly update.

Needs Survey

Karen will send the survey out to CLMA members via email to Twila when we get the combined mailing list of names.

Salary Survey

Thank you to John Kangas for his efforts on the salary survey and his presentation of the information. We discussed doing an annual survey but decided to talk about it later.

National Chapter Member Award

We can nominate 3 people for consideration for the award; due April 2003.

Spring Meeting Planning

The Spring meeting will be held in Yankton at the Kelly Inn May 7-9, 2003. The theme for the meeting is "Laboratory…the Core of Discovery." Warren Erickson is chairman of the committee. The committee consists of Sacred Heart Laboratory staff, Yankton Medical Clinic staff, and Kari Nornes, CLMA representative. It will begin at noon on Wednesday, all day Thursday, and Friday morning. We discussed having LIS vendors and decided to get them a separate room for their presentations and have them start every half hour so people could go listen to them. Kari will share the idea with the planning committee.

Purchasing CLIA list from State Department of Health

We can get a complete list of all CLIA laboratories from the State for $15.00 that lists all categories e.g., waived, LTC, etc. However, Larry Weaver has a complete list. We decided that, if we can get an electronic list, we will purchase it. Otherwise, Larry already has access to it as a hard copy.

PAC Information

This information will be on the web site. Please send any contributions to National CLMA and designate as a contribution for PACE so that they can track the contributions.

CLMA audio conference tapes are available for $50. We discussed having a library of them and decided that, if there are no restrictions as to how to use them, we should purchase them (e.g., check them out to various laboratories).

Our next meeting will be at the Spring Meeting in Yankton.
